And here's the birthday boy, in all his glory. Haha.
Okay fine, I'll describe what's happening in this picture.
So I've had stuff planned for his birthday for weeks but I told everyone not to mention anything about his birthday to him. So a few days before his birthday, he's like, "no one's said what we're doing for my birthday..." and I say, "well, maybe nobody cares." Just kidding, I'm not that heartless. I said something to the effect of, "oh yeah, they haven't...hmmm"
You only get your birthday on a Saturday every 6 years or something like that so I was determined to make it awesome. He had all these plans for himself (like mow the lawn, pull some weeds, what have you) and I just laughed to myself because I knew he wasn't going to get anything done he wanted to.
So we wake up on Saturday (he even slept in until 9, that never happens) and I say, we have a full day ahead of us, so we best get up and movin'! He may never admit it, but he was pretty excited, I can tell...I know that kid.
We leave and go to Burger King because they have cinnamon roles that he loves and I picked some up for his fam because I was dropping the kids off with them for a while.
First stop. Golden Hands Massage. MmmMmmMmm. Guys, go get this done, it's worth every penny. The whole time we're driving over he kept trying to guess what we were doing (he's not good with surprises, that's why it doesn't happen very often), "uuuhhhh, are you going to the movies??" "I'm not telling.", "Oh! we're going to get a car wash, huh?" "Um, no." He was cracking me up.
Th massage was an hour long and they even gave us a private room just for two people. The picture above was right after the massage as I was trying to get him up to our next stop. That guuyyy.... So funny. Next we went shopping, so he could pick out what he wanted. We had a hard time finding anything because he didn't need anything. If it was me, I would have found something... earrings, blouses, shoes, you name it. So you know what he ended up picking out? A griddle. A GRIDDLE! I would have never, ever picked that out for myself as a gift. He's so practical. I need to be more like that.
Afterward we went and ate at one of his favorite restaurants, it's a teriyaki place and it is de-lish, so of course I didn't mind accompanying him. It was weird without any kids, I'll be honest. So quiet...
Then after that we went back to his parents where Trent took Tristan and went to the movies to see Man of Steel. The whole time before (again) Tristan was trying to guess where they were going (He kept saying, "batting cages?? Are we going to the batting cages??" I don't know where he got that idea from. So Trent decided to play a little trick on him and lead him off course straight over the the batting cages. He even tricked him like he was about to turn in, totally had him going. Thanks for doing that Trent, it's always nice to play tricks on him haha. Anyway they both said the movie was really good. I stayed at the Turner's where I fed Caleb and got Ellie to take a nap. I also made some cake, but with Ellie's assistance of course.
I let her put on the sprinkles. She was in heaven. You like how she was eating them right off the cake?
She hasn't really stopped wishing Tristan a happy birthday...
We had Trent take Tristan directly over to Skipolini's Pizza where we all met up with them.
Tabby and Nathan. Love these two.
Sheldon is always, always holding one of his grandkids. How adorable is Hailye in this picture?
Trent and Tristan
Garret and Allye with their nana
Love our birthday boy! (Caleb was sleeping so wasn't in this family picture.)
Oh there you are Caleb! We love you!
Free dessert. Yummers.
Always have to get a picture of these two together. Nathan can always calm Caleb down if he's upset... it's pretty amazing.
After dinner we went over to our place for some cake and ice cream. But first we played some soccer in our backyard...
Tristan--you are so yummy.
That picture on the right is when Trent kicked the ball straight at Sheldon's you-know-whats and Tristan was dying laughing. It was pretty funny. Don't worry, Sheldon's a good sport.
I made Tristan wear this sombrero that I decorated just for him. I'm so talented and inventive aren't I? (Sarcasm anyone?)
Gettin' ready to sing for the birthday boy.
One last family shot. Ellie wanted to blow those candles out so bad. Tristan was so nice to let her assist him. And there's my chunky Caleb, just hanging out, looking cute.
I think the day was a success! We love you Tristan and are so lucky to have you in our lives.
Happy Birthday!
