As is common knowledge, Tristan is from Northern California and I'm from Southern California. Which, if you've ever been to both, are like two different states in my opinion. There is a completely different feel to them. Both good, but different. Well, we were lucky to be able to make a trip down to my parents for New Years. (I say lucky because Tristan is very limited on his days off, thankfully New Years was over the weekend).
So we made our trek Thursday afternoon. A whole 7 hours! Not bad at all considering from Idaho it was twice that amount. The ride down wasn't bad at all, hit basically no traffic and Ellie was really well behaved. Who wouldn't be with the iPad to distract her. The way back was another story... we hit really bad traffic and Ellie kept kicking the iPad (not cool Ellie, not cool) so we took it away and she only took about an hour nap. We were happy to be home by that time.

Thank goodness for Buzz and Woody to help distract this girl.
My little sister, Stevie (the last one at home), let us take her bed! Ellie had her own, but liked snuggling with daddy before bedtime.
Southern California is about 10 degrees warmer than Northern, so it was perfect for outside (around 60 degrees).
My parents have had this two-seater for 20+ years. My brother-in-law fixed it up when Britt and Andrew were in town during the summer, so we enjoyed a little ride on it.
My mom is so cute. I love her. She's such a good grandma. She also just celebrated her birthday on the second, so shout out to that sexy lady!
My brother Mickey and Tristan practiced riding my Dad's and Sister's unicycles. I figured I shouldn't try that out quite yet. Mickey was really good and went around the cul-de-sac a few times. Tristan... is improving! Haha, no really he did pretty good.
This is my Mickey. He is majoring in Analytical Statistics at BYU, plays the piano beautifully, is really funny (seriously), looks good in jeans, refuses to wear jackets, loves In-N-Out and is a down right good guy. He's pretty much successful at anything he tries (like unicycles). Just in case anyone was curious... I can keep going upon anyone's request. But I figure I should stop embarrassing him.
He's is such a cool uncle. Ellie is lucky to have him. He is ALWAYS trying to get her to play with him. And makes me laugh so much. You should hear this guy do Batman and Bane's voice. Hilarious.

We also visited the park and found ourselves in the tennis court portion
of it for whatever reason. But my mom and Tristan had fun playing
catch.

I think Ellie had a good time!
We definitely were tired after all the fun, and I am not ashamed that I didn't make it until midnight to ring in the new year. I would rather get some good rest. But when Ellie's a little older, she'll probably have fun staying up. So we'll see.
Also, my mom and I also went and got our eyebrows threaded. My first time! It was awesome and I was super excited. My mom loves it so I knew I had to try it. My little sister said it was the worse pain ever and would never do it again haha. But I did it and I'd do it a million more times. So worth it.
My mom and dad also watched Ellie the last evening we were there and let Tristan and Stevie and I go get a massage (mine and Tristan's first time). We went to a place called Reflexology (which was a super good deal) and got an hour massage. It was awesome. I didn't go on my belly for obvious reasons but Stevie and Tristan did. And when the hour was over, Tristan's face was so funny, I laughed for 3 minutes at him because he looked like he had been asleep for 8 hours. He's such a sucker for a good massage.
So thanks to my family for an awesome few days! We had fun and love you guys! It's always hard to say goodbye, but it's nice knowing we're not as far as we used to be and that I'll see my mom in a few months when baby comes.

Ooo, I need more details on eyebrow threading! Is it expensive? How long does it last? I've been wanting to try it but I'm kind of scared...
ReplyDeleteIt was so good to see you! That Ellie is too stinkin' cute.
It cost $10 for eyebrows and upper lip (not afraid to admit that I got mine done) and since I'm not super hairy it took them no longer than 10 minutes. The lady kept saying "you have thin eyebrows" but we're not all blessed with those thick Indian eyebrows! And I was nervous that it would put me in labor or something haha. No seriously, it hurt, but not bad enough for me to tell her to stop and once she was finished, it didn't hurt at all. My eyebrows were red for an hour or two afterward though. Upper lip wasn't though. And they can put witchhazel on afterward which dulls the pain. Stevie didn't get that afterward and she said it her eyebrows hurt for hours. She never plucks her eyebrows though, so I can imagine that being a large factor as to why she was being such a baby about it ;).
DeleteIt's Statistical Science now, Markie.
