I feel like I just married Tristan yesterday, but also that I've been married to him for forever.
Such a romantic, I know.
For our five year anniversary we decided it was our year to leave both of the kids and take a trip to ourselves. It was our first time leaving Caleb overnight, but I wasn't worried. I still nurse him once about every other day (we're working on the whole "weaning" thing) and was certain he'd be fine with Sheldon and Lesa. Which he was. And so was Ellie. Not that it surprised me, they're ALWAYS good for them. But still why not always be angels for their momma too?
ROAD TRIP
Always fun with this guy and not just because he always insists on driving the whole thing.
So San Francisco it was! Which is about 2 hours away from us. I've only been once before (with Tristan and his family) so I was pretty giddy. We left Friday morning and planned to stay until Saturday evening.
That's Alcatraz and a super cool sailboat behind us.
More Alcatraz with a wind-swept Markie. I know, I should have been a model.
We had lunch on Pier 39 with a window seat facing the bay. It was pretty legit. And no Tristan doesn't normally ignore me, he was just checking hotel reservations. I just think he's totes sexy when he's concentrating.
Then we walked the piers and enjoyed the beauty that is San Francisco.
We saw a statue-man thing, which I thought was super cool and also the painted ladies. I didn't get a very good picture of them, but it was okay because one of them was being painted anyway.
Brought the kids back some de-lish Ghirardelli chocolate.
I know, my faces are terrible. But this one takes the cake.
I really-super-duper-extra-times-a-million wanted to go to a Giants game, but they were out of town on our actual anniversary (the 8th), so we went the next weekend. I'm glad we did because it was by far the highlight of the trip. We walked from our hotel to AT&T park. It was awesome.
We had amazing seats; we got to see the pitchers warm up right, metaphorically, in front of our eyes!
Tristan took some creepy, stalker pictures of Madison Bumgarner and Sergio Romo who are both amazing pitchers.
While I took some of Buster Posey (he's the one in mid-swing). He is, by far, my favorite player. Not just because he's a good player but because he's a good man in general. I always call him "my boy" whenever he's up for bat "that's my boy!" or "my boy is up for bat" or "my boy just hit a grand slam!" etc, etc. I don't think Tristan really approves of it.
It got a little chilly for us Californians at a whomping 65 degrees. So sweaters and hot chocolate it was.
We had a blast and enjoyed ourselves some garlic fries and other delectables only to be found at a baseball stadium.
But we did lose. It was a bummer. I was still super happy because I got to see several home runs and just some good baseball. Tristan, I think, is still upset about the loss.
The walk back to our hotel after the game was beautiful as we walked under the lit up Bay Bridge.
The next day was spent in a super long line waiting to ride the sweet cable car pictured below. I'm glad we did it, but the line was a little ridiculous.
We took it all the way to Union Square and Market Street where the shopping is nothing like I've ever seen. Really. That picture on the right is the mall that had 8 stories or something insane like that. It was craaaazy. As was the line to go back on the cable car, so we decided to walk the 2 miles back to our car. It was fun to see all the cool architecture and buildings in San Francisco. The hills were huge so Tristan I opted to run up them. I'm pretty sure we looked a little goofy.
This was the picture I made us take on the cable car. Tristan's face says it all: "Can we never take another selfie again?" Haha. Nope.
Happy Anniversary to us; it couldn't have been more perfect!
