Caleb's First Birthday Party

I've accepted long ago that I'm not a very creative person. And I am okay with that! It makes me appreciate other people's talents even more. So for Caleb's birthday, I decided to focus on the food. Because let's be honest, that's the most important part of a party. Of course I just bought a bunch of pizza... but still! Who doesn't love Pizza?? We had about 30 guests, so we separated our sectional couch and pushed it to the wall and brought in a few tables and a bunch of chairs. I was so so grateful that it wasn't raining (it had been all week, even that day!) so we got to enjoy being outside. It didn't feel to cramped and everyone kept busy and seemed to be having fun (I hope)!
Screenshot of my Evite. Haha. I took out my phone number and address because I'm paranoid like that. But I wanted to keep it to remember. I like to keep it simple. Like Dwight from The Office.
That's how we do in this household.

He loved the balloons!
I did somewhat have a theme:
SUPERHEROES!
Thank you Trent, for supporting my theme.
I don't expect anyone to be impressed by this, but I wanted to take pictures so I have it to remember on my blog.
Crawling around doin' his thang.
Mama and her Birthday Boy.

June and Caleb are exactly 1 month apart (28 days!). They both enjoyed getting into my good friend AnnMarie's diaper bag. She always has the best goodies. And a diet coke.
We bought Frozen the day before and the kids had a heyday. I had barely seen it for the first time an hour earlier.
Lesa (Nana) and Nicole with her daughter Sophia.
Cari, AnnMarie, Annie, and Whitney. Also Caitlyn and Matt below.
I love those girls (I realize Matt isn't a girl...).

Seger people. I know, the lighting is terrible. And I take all the pictures with my trusty iPhone, so I'm sure that helps.
Tristan, Larry, and Alec. Great guys.
Alec playing with his daughter Gwen. And little June poking her head in there.
Tabby playing with the birthday boy. Who doesn't love this lady?
Singing happy birthday to Caleb!
We had been talking to Ellie about Caleb's birthday party for weeks. She was more excited for his than she was her own birthday. It was so sweet. So I promised her she could blow out the candle since I figured Caleb couldn't. She loved it.
My Sister-in-law (Tabitha, Tabby, Tabbers) did a great job making his cake and all the cupcakes!
We made all the Superhero toppings too. Couldn't have done it without her.

(Poor kid got a scratch right below his eye the day before).
Trying to get a decent shot of myself with the kids. Wishful thinking.
She was so sweet to try and cut Caleb's cake for him. Meanwhile...
...Caleb attempted to feed anyone next to him some of his delicious cake.
Including, but not limited to, Nathan and Tristan.

EVERYONE got involved when it came time to open presents. It was so funny. Literally all the kids were helping. I don't even know if Caleb opened any. But ya know what? The kids had fun and Caleb didn't mind, so neither did I.

He got lots of trucks and lots of shirts. Both of which we needed. I know some pretty awesome people.

I let everyone open the BIG present, because if it's big it has to be amazing, right?
Tristan and I got Caleb a slide and the kids were loving it.
We opened it up and set it up right then and there (not that it wasn't suuuuuper easy).

They were loving it.

Successful first birthday for Caleb! We spent the next two hours cleaning cake off the floor. Well worth it. I think we're done with parties for a while. I realized Tristan's and Ellie's and Caleb's birthday were all on a Saturday! Crazy. Happy Birthday (a month ago) to my big baby boy! We love you!
