My parents and little sis came up on Friday evening and stayed the whole weekend!
It was the first time my dad and Stevie met Caleb.
Enjoying the company!
Grandparents with their grandchildren; no sweeter sight.
Caleb loves his "grampy" (as we like to call him)!
I was super excited for my parents to come and enjoy all the bike trails that Folsom had to offer. Perhaps I was a little too excited that it led to my being overly ambitious.
I've been on the search for a bike trailer for quite some time, but I needed one SOON with my parents coming. I was determined to get one for a good deal (otherwise they're like 200+ dollars!). Folsom is big on garage sales. I'm talking HUGE. They have community garage sales where over 200 homes participate. There was one coming up in a very up-scale neighborhood and I was going to get a bike trailer; nothing could deter me. I got up the morning of the garage sale with a certain amount of money just for the trailer. Drove around the neighborhood for 20 minutes (past up some really nice things) and found one! And I got it for $35 less than what they were asking because I told them I only had what was on me. It was awesome. I was so so so proud of myself haha.
We took it out for a test drive, and we loved it. We got it a week before my parents got here. I am awesome.
My parents were stoked to go. Caleb was too little (and Tristan wasn't feeling well) so they stayed while we ventured out. My dad carried Ellie and the trailer (and my ten pound diaper bag) and was still in the front the entire time. I know he could have gone faster too, but he didn't want to leave me in the dust. My mom was close behind him (she could have also been way ahead). Stevie hung out by me; bless her soul.
Oh hey Stevie, havin' fun? But seriously this girl was awesome. She was behind me the entire time saying "you can do it Markie" as we went up the millions of hills that I never realized consumes Folsom.
I look happy in this picture because we made it home after a TWELVE MILE bike ride (and I didn't die). Now to those experienced bike rides (como mi madre y padre) this is no big deal. Even Stevie wasn't phased by it. But let me tell you, if I knew it was going to end up being that long, I don't think I would've done it.
but it was definitely worth all the memories.
Ellie was sooo good the whole time. I put snacks and water in the back for her. She enjoyed herself. And then zonked out. I wish it was as relaxing for me as it was for her.
After biking in the 90+ degree weather (it actually didn't feel that bad because of a heaven-sent breeze) we decided to go swimming! Ellie loooooves swimming. She was so excited that started putting on all of Stevie's supplies.
I love this picture of Stevie and Ellie. She was loving her time with her aunt and didn't want to stop playing!
I think it's safe to say that Caleb was enjoying his time with his grandma too!
The next day was Caleb's blessing. Tristan gave a beautiful one and we are 2 for 2 for having a non-crying baby blessing--though I knew he'd be no trouble at all, it still stresses me out.
Grandam and grandpa holding the little cutie.
The picture on the right was just too precious not to capture.
And after the blessing was pic-cha time!
Do you know how hard it was to get all these pictures? Don't people like taking pictures?
Well I rounded everyone up and got some. Of course, no body really moved after that to get out of the back of the pictures, but whatever, I'm just glad I got some.

Thanks for everyone who could make it!

The Warner side. My sibs are all progressing in their careers/schooling and being awesome so a lot couldn't make it. But that's okay. They were still there in spirit. Love them.

The Turner side (and Segers--sorry for blocking your head Hailye)
Afterward we went to the Turner's and had a nice little mexican feast (it was cinco de mayo after all). It was great to spend time with loved ones and enjoy each others company.
Grandma W with her grandkids.
Such a fun weekend with family, food, and great weather.

ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a great weekend! So here's my verdict: Ellie takes after you, and Caleb is a mini Tristan. Those pictures of Caleb wide awake on your dad's lap look just like his daddy. And obviously both of them are beautiful kids. :)
ReplyDeleteMarkie, I can totally see you being super stoked about that garage sale find! It just feels so good to get a great deal! Good work! And I agree with Allison... Caleb is totally a mini Tristan. He's even got that blonde hair! I can't wait to see little Caleb and Ellie this week!!! Also, Dad's fluorescent green shirt is awesome. And finally, I LOVE YOUR SHOES! Don't think I didn't notice those awesome new running shoes. You go girl! LOVE YOU!
